Yerevan Modern Art Museum invites to the opening of Djawed Wasseh’s solo exhibition, which will take place on 04.04.2025, at 4:00 pm.
Djawed Wasseh was born in Afghanistan. His childhood was memorable and pleasant. But because of the war he moved to Europe more than 30 years ago.
“My paintings are like radio stations, if you immerse into them and not just pass by, you will hear interesting stories… Memories from childhood- beautiful snowy winter in Kabul, the games with kites with my brother Shekeb. They are good memories, sweet memories…. And memories with a bitter taste, far from my parents, already in Germany.”
Appearing in Germany, he visited galleries and museums, attended concerts. The world of art attracted him, although it was new and completely unfamiliar to him.
At first, he had to do various jobs to survive and gradually began to paint. At first, he worked with a charcoal pencil, then with a brush and acrylic paints. Over time, he gained experience and became the author of his own style, the author of his own technique, using an ordinary shower and preferring a vertical format.
Djawed did not study art, but received patronage from Professor Udo Schell, former rector of the Münster Academy. He began to participate in exhibitions in Germany and abroad, in particular at the Franz-Hitze-Haus Academy in Münster, etc. Djawed’s last exhibition was held in New York.
“My paintings often don’t have titles, because they are my philosophy, my feelings expressed in color. Feelings about the past and present, my perception of myself in reality.”
The exhibition will be open until 20.04.2025
