Martin Petrosyan (1933)

1933 – Born in Tsaghkashen village (Armenia).

1936 – Moved to Baku with his family, where he received secondary education.

1953-1958 – Studied at the P. Terlemezyan Art College (Yerevan).

1958-1961 – Studied as a free listener at the I. Repin Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture.

1961 – Participant in numerous national exhibitions.

1967 – Participant in international exhibitions.

1973 – Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR.

1976 – Honored Artist of Armenia.

Petrosyan’s work includes painting and graphics, compositional painting, landscape, portraiture, as well as book illustration. He collaborated regularly with the children’s magazines “Pioneer” and “Tsitsernak”. He designed and illustrated several children’s books. He created illustrations for the Armenian epic “Sasuntsi David” and for moral tales by Vardan Aygektsi.

His works are held in the Museum of Contemporary Art (Yerevan), National Gallery of Armenia (Yerevan), Museum of the Peoples of the East (Moscow), Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow), Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts (Moscow), Union of Artists of Armenia and Ministry of Culture collections (Yerevan), and numerous private collections in Armenia and abroad.
